attack on titan
I FUCKING HATE THAT I COULDNT FULLY ENJOY THIS ANIME BECAUSE OF THE MAIN CAST GGRAAHHH genuinely cannot get over how much eren mikasa and armin ruined this show for me.idrk how to start this review any other way. umm i watched the first two seasons a few years ago and recently picked it back up again; idk. for one the world-building is ridiculously immersive, and the whole "humans vs. titans" concept is super gripping, especially early on. (the odm gear is such a fun concept) i also think that all the twists are rly crazy and well placed if you never got spoiled regarding those like i did, that is until the last stretch of the show though.
i get that it’s trying to be all deep with its morality questions too, but especially at the end, it’s just a bit. senseless? the twist after twist regarding eren's abilities feel kind of ridiculous. also how all eren did was essentially for nothing in the end. (like genuinely the whole "i killed 80% of humanity because i wanted to" made me just wanna roll my eyes out of my head LOLL SO CRINGE SORRY) i just hate his character. that ending was kind of lame to me in that aspect.
other characters are another mixed bag. mikasa's whole nothingburger character is HORRIBLE and armin's "guys let's just talk this out" thing got on my nerves pretty consistently as well but i dont hate armin as muchh i think my main issue with him is his VA.
the animation is great, and i think all of the action sequences are really well done, even when the show leans too heavily into CGI for the titans (or horses lol...). some scenes looked the tiniest bit janky, especially in the later seasons when MAPPA took over. but i honestly don't mind it too much
all in all i get the appeal, though. there’s something about aot that kept me hooked, even when it was frustrating.
i’d give it a 7/10. i feel like i would've rated it wayyy higher had i gotten into it while the hype was still on OR back when the first seasons came out lol.

generally speaking, i really really liked this anime. the themes of all the symbolism are obvious but not too on the nose lol. uhh ig in short i would say it talks about the topic of adolescence, identity, and the isolation that comes with it.the idea of this lost world the students find themselves in symbolizing the feeling of adolescence was quite nice to be honest, especially because all the different dimensions were so creatively thought out.
while the animation style is distinctive and atmospheric (i'm obsessed with how smooth it was), the pacing can sometimes feel disjointed, leading to moments of confusion, but that might’ve just been me. ALSO. i’m sure i’m gonna strike a nerve with this statement, but i could not enjoy nagara’s character arc even with a full understanding of what it’s all supposed to mean. this is mostly just a personal thing, i just think we would have so much one-sided beef (on my side) if he were real. on the other hand my favorite character was 100% rajdhani... i love him
overall, i’d say this anime stands out for its way of storytelling and all the symbolism that could be picked apart for ages (as seen on reddit lol). even if it may alienate some due to its mildly abstract nature at times, i would rate it a 8.9/10. sorry if this sounds pretentious, i've never written reviews before :,D
